YMCA Group Fitness Classes
The Waynesboro Family YMCA Group Fitness Classes are co-ed and designed to fit all levels and ages. These classes are free with your membership. All “Y” instructors are certified in group fitness exercise through a nationally recognized certification organization.
Cancellations for group fitness are posted on the Y’s Facebook page. We recommend you consult our Facebook page when possible before heading to class!

Group Fitness Class Schedule
The Waynesboro YMCA will be closed on Tuesday, December 24th and Wednesday, December 25th in observance of the Christmas holiday.
Classes on December 26th have been canceled to allow our staff time to rest and travel safely after the holiday.
The YMCA will close at 12:00PM on New Years Eve. All evening classes have been canceled.
The YMCA will be closed on January 1, 2025.
Group Fitness Class Description
Balance & Stability: Senior fitness class that focuses on easy exercises to help build bone density, muscle mass, flexibility and positive reinforcement on health. Balance skills are practiced. Chairs are used in this class. No impact exercises.
Barre: A low-impact stabilization and strength routine that combines elements of ballet, Pilates, yoga, and strength training.
Boot Camp: This workout is a type of high-intensity interval training (HIIT) — bursts of intense activity alternated with intervals of lighter activity. Includes functional fitness, such as using whole-body, multi-joint exercises that simulate movements people do in life.
Cardio Sculpt: A full body workout,that utilizes weighted and bodyweight strength training to build strength and endurance. Short cardio intervals burn calories and boost your metabolism!
Chair Yoga: A safe and gentle form of yoga which is practiced sitting on a chair or using a chair for support during standing poses. Chair yoga is suitable for everyone, as participants can increase or decrease workout difficulty throughout the class.
Classic Yoga: A traditional-style mat yoga class suitable for beginners with modifications offered for intermediate practice; no strenuous inversions. Class begins with light breath work and ends with a short savasana (relaxation).
Gentle Conditioning: Fitness class that focuses on resistance exercises to help build bone density, muscle mass, flexibility and balanced health. Gentle means gentle on joints and paced for progress, not stress. Chairs are used in this class. No impact exercises.
Gentle Yoga: A great introduction to yoga for beginners or an easier class for beginners or those who enjoy a gentler practice.
Muscle Mania: The class focuses on all major muscle groups of the upper and lower body. It utilizes weights and a variety of movements and innervations. Cardio bursts are incorporated throughout the workout.
Pound: Utilizing the energizing infectious fun of drumming. It uses lightly weighted “drumsticks” to transform drumming into an effective way of working out.
Power Yoga: A satisfying blend of steady-paced dynamic sequences coordinated with the breath and blended with periods of static holds for strength, endurance, and flexibility.
Spin: Build cardiovascular strength and endurance while burning calories. It offers a challenging low-impact stationary bike ride with fun energizing music. The group ride atmosphere is encouraging and keeps you motivated to come back week after week.
Strength Circuits: Circuit training is a variety-filled class in which you do one exercise for 30 seconds to 5 minutes and then move on to another exercise. All major postural muscles and prime movers are challenged.
Strength Training and Abs: Build full body strength with free weights, bars and bands. Core work tops off each class. Modify your workout for more or less challenge by adjusting load. Good for all fitness levels with options shown.
Yoga Fusion: A traditional-style mat yoga class with Pilates-style challenges blended in to build core stability and strength, increase flexibility and improve coordination and balance.
Zumba: Zumba combines Latin, International and pop music with interval dance moves that alternate fast and slow rhythms. It is cardiorespiratory “exercise in disguise!
