Aquatics

This aquatic event is fun for the whole family with a series of games and relays designed to get you in the holiday spirit with holiday themed prizes to be won!

Activities include:

Santa’s Sleigh Relay:

Teams of parents/adults (the reindeer) will pull children across the pool(like Santa on his sleigh).

Rudolph’s Red Nose Relay:

Participants will race across the pool on the backs of their noble noodle steed to be the first to find Rudolph’s red nose, don the nose, and swim it back to the next participant.

Frosty’s Snowball Fight:

Participants will be divided into two teams. Starting on opposite walls, they will race for the snowballs in the middle of the pool, throwing them at the opposing team. If you get struck by a snowball, you’re out!

Stocking Stuffer:

Participants will race across the pool, looking to collect the “presents” that will be both floating and submerged in the middle, swimming them back to their respective walls to stuff the stocking.

Participants will collect as many presents as they can carry, placing them in the stocking, before the next participant will enter the water to collect presents.

The team with the most presents in their stocking wins!

Deck the Halls:

participants will race across the pool, looking to locate Christmas decorations. After locating decorations, they will race them across the pool to decorate their Christmas tree. The team with the most decorations wins but watch out! There may be a Grinch looking to steal Christmas!

And many more!

Children 6 and under must have an adult in the water with them. Children may wear USCG approved personal floatation devices (PFDs), a limited number of PFDs are available upon request.

Changes to Lifeguard Staffing Affecting Operations

Dear Members and Guests,

We want to inform you of an important update that directly affects our Aquatics Department and pool operations. The CDC’s Model Aquatic Health Code (MAHC) Section 6.3.4.3.1 and, as a result, Y-USA, now requires a minimum of two certified lifeguards to be present and available whenever any part of an aquatic venue is open. This new guideline protects the safety of all patrons and enables lifeguards to respond effectively to emergencies.

As always, the safety of our members and guests is our top priority, and we are committed to full compliance with these regulations. However, due to current staffing realities, this requirement may impact our ability to keep the pool open at times.

We want to be transparent: there may be times when we have to temporarily close the pool or limit access if we do not have the necessary lifeguard coverage. While we do have contingency plans in place and are doing our absolute best to avoid disruptions, we also want to set realistic expectations and stay in good communication with you. We understand how important our aquatic programs are to so many of you, and we’re working diligently to ensure continuity. Please know this is not a decision we take lightly – it is about ensuring a safe environment for everyone.

Family Swim

Non-Members may participate in Family Swim Times with a purchase of a day pass. Day passes are $10/individual or $25/family.

Lap Swimming Reservations

Lanes are available for reservations to members only.

All ages welcome! See pool age policy below for more information.

Reservations open 48 hours in advance.

Reservations can be made for 30 or 60 mins depending on programming and lane availability.

Members please make reservations by stopping by or calling the Y’s front desk at 540-943-9622.

Age Requirements

Children 5 and under must have an adult in the pool with them at all times.
Children 6-12 must be accompanied by an adult in the pool area.
Children 13-15 must have an adult in the building, but the adult does not have to be in the pool area, provided child has passed the swim test.
Children ages 16+ may use the facility unaccompanied by an adult upon successful completion of the swim test.

All children under the age of 18 must successfully pass the Swim Test to be allowed into the deep end of the pool.

The swim test is a 25 yard swim (1 length of the pool). Children will swim 1/2 length of the pool demonstrating front crawl/freestyle and the ability to lift their head up and take a break (side breathing or up and down breathing).

Children will then be asked to roll onto their back and swim 1/2 length of the pool demonstrating elementary backstroke or back crawl/backstroke to the deep end.

When the child has reached the deep end wall, children must then demonstrate the ability to tread water unassisted for 30 seconds.

Upon successful completion, the lifeguard will record the child’s names and DOB, as well as the completion date, in the swim log and a note will be added to child’s membership at the front desk.

Inclement Weather Policy

For thunder and lightning, the lifeguard on duty will blow their whistle to clear the pool and deck space. The pool will be closed for 30 mins. The timer will reset every time thunder is heard or lightning is seen.

If Waynesboro Public Schools are delayed, programs before 9:00am will be canceled. Cancelation of programs that are scheduled to begin at 9:00am will be determined by 7:00am.

If schools are closed, programming prior to 12:00pm will be canceled. Cancelation of programs that are scheduled to begin after 12:00pm will be determined separately.

Book a Pool Party

Party packages are available on Saturdays and Sundays and are based on TOTAL NUMBER OF GUESTS, REGARDLESS OF IF THEY ARE SWIMMING OR NOT.

Party Package:

2 hours total
Includes 90 mins of dedicated swim time
Access to the observation room adjacent to the pool for food, drink, and presents.
15 mins is given on the front and backend to set up and break down.

Up to 15 Guests:

Members: $225
Non-members: $245

Up to 25 Guests:

Members: $265
Non-Members: $285

More than 25 Guests:

we will assess an additional fee of $50/hr for the extra staff required to stay in compliance with the Model Aquatics Health Code staffing guidelines.

Age Policy:

In addition to the Aquatics Staffing we provide:

Children 5 and under need to have an adult in the water within arms reach of them
Children 6-12 need to have an adult on deck supervising in addition to the lifeguarding staff we provide, per our age policy.

Swim Test:

Any child wishing to access the deep end of the pool will also need to pass the swim test. We put a safety line across to separate the shallow and deep end of the pool.

Toys & Floaties:

You are welcome to bring your own toys and floaties, life jackets are available upon request at no extra charge.

Inflatables and PFDs need to stay in the shallow end.

Please refrain from removing equipment labeled for swim lessons or water aerobics use.

Equipment like kickboards and pull buoys are not available for parties.

Additionally, parties may also rent inflatables, the basketball hoop or volleyball net for an additional flat rate of $20/each.

A signed rental contract and payment in full is required to secure party dates.
